Chapter 5
“How about this?” Kelly asks while holding a cute top and skirt.

“No. I don’t like that either.”

“Come on Elena. That is like the twentieth outfit we’ve shown you and you hate that one too?”

“Girls, I’ve never told a man I’ve loved him before and I have to look good, don’t I?”

“True. Wait a minute. Do you still have that cute green dress you wore at my birthday party last year?” asked Joy.

“I do. It should be on the left side of my closet. That would be a great outfit. He loves when I wear green,” Elena laughs.

“Well then that’s the dress. Put it on and then we’ll help you with your hair and makeup.”

“All right.” Elena goes into her bathroom and change into the dress. When she comes out, she asks, “How do I look?”

“You look great but you’re going to look even better after we get your hair and makeup done,” said Kelly.

“Well I want to see Jonathan soon so let’s get a move on with my hair,” Elena laughs.

After about 15 minutes, the girls finished helping Elena to get ready. Once they were done, Sara asked, “What do you think Elena?”

“I look pretty good.”

“You look better than good. You look hot and Jonathan won’t be able to keep his eyes off of you after he sees you.”

“You really think so, Joy?”

“Of course.”

“All right. So I guess I better get going. Thank you for coming over tonight.”

“We’re your friends and we’re always going to be here for you.”

“I’m with Kelly. We’ll be here for you whenever you need us,” added Joy.

“All right. So you need to stop talking to us and go get your man.”

“Okay I’m going now. Thanks again.”

Elena grabs her car keys and leaves her apartment and goes to Jonathan’s apartment. Joy, Kelly, and Sara decide to stay at Elena’s apartment because they want to be the first ones to know what happened between Elena and Jonathan.

Elena got in her car and started up the engine but she didn’t drive off right away. She sat in her car and thought of all that could happen once she went to see Jonathan. Would she leave his home happy or sad? What would he say after she told him of her feelings? Would she even have the courage to tell him her feelings? After thinking of the different possibilities, she finally decides to drive to his home. She knew exactly where to go. Since Elena and Jonathan were friends, she had been to his home several times. After about fifteen minutes, she arrived to her destination. She parked her car near Jonathan’s apartment building. She got out of her car and then headed upstairs. When she finally was outside Jonathan’s apartment, she stood there for a while before ringing the bell. Finally when she mustered up the courage to finally ring the bell, she did and waited patiently until the man she loves answered the door.

Chapter 6
Elena waited patiently outside of Jonathan’s door but there was no answer. She thought to herself, “He can’t be gone already. He just can’t be.” Ally Harper, one of Jonathan’s neighbors was passing by in the hallway when she saw Elena continue to knock on Jonathan’s door.

“Hi Elena,” said Ally.

“Ms. Harper, it’s nice seeing you again.”

“Same here. So are you looking for Jonathan?”

“I am. I was hoping he would be home.”

“Unfortunately he’s not. He’s having dinner at his parent’s home since he’s leaving tomorrow.”

“Yeah I know he’s leaving tomorrow and I needed to talk to him about something before he left.”

“Well he did tell me he was going to be home around 10 or so. Since it’s about 9, why don’t you wait in my apartment so you won’t have to be standing around for an hour.”

“Thank you Ms. Harper. That’s really nice of you.”

“Let’s go then.”

Elena followed Ally to her apartment. Elena has seen Ally several times when she has come to visit Jonathan. Jonathan was very fond of Ally. She was one of the first people to make him feel welcome when he first moved into the building. And she was one of the few people that Jonathan feels he could trust.

Once Ally and Elena entered the apartment, Ally offered Elena something to drink.

“No I’m too nervous to drink anything Ms. Harper.”

“Nervous? Nervous about what.”

“Nervous of what I’m going to talk to Jonathan about.”

“You want to talk about it. Maybe I can help ease your nerves.”

“I guess it’s okay to talk to you about this. Jonathan trusts you a lot and for him to trust someone, you must be someone special.”

“Oh you’re too kind. So what are you so nervous about?”

“Well. It’s just that I’m going to tell Jonathan of my feelings for him.”

“Your feelings?”

“I’m going to tell Jonathan that I love him.”

“Oh.”

“You don’t seem surprised.”

“Well I’ve actually thought for a few months now that you had feelings for Jonathan.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. It’s obvious the way you look at him. Every time I’ve seen you and he together, you have the look of a woman in love.”

“My friends say the same about me,” Elena laughs.

“Well if your friends say it and I’m saying it, I guess we’re right,” Ally laughs.

“If only I had told him before of my feelings maybe he wouldn’t be leaving tomorrow.”

“Well I bet that after you tell him of your feelings, he might be changing his plans of moving.”

“I can only hope so.”

Elena and Ally continue talking until all of a sudden they hear locks being unlocked.

“Is that him?” Elena asked anxiously.

Ally runs to her door and looks through her peephole and sees it’s Jonathan entering his apartment.

“Yes it’s him.”

“Oh God. I’m so nervous now.”

“Don’t be Elena. Just tell him how you feel and you’ll be fine. Trust me.”

“Thank you Ms. Harper.”

“You’re welcome. Now go to Jonathan and tell him how you feel.”

“Okay I’m going to go now. Thanks again.”

Elena leaves the apartment and goes across the hall to Jonathan’s door. She breathes one more time and then knocks on the door and waits for Jonathan to answer.

Hey readers! Just to let you know that I've decided to make this a short story and will end with 10 or 11 chapters But I might make a sequel out of this. We'll see :lol:

Chapter 7
Jonathan opens the door and is happy to see who is on the other side.

“Hey John,” Elena said happily.

“Elena, I’m happy you’re here. Come on in.”

“Thanks.”

Elena and Jonathan sit on the sofa.

“So John, you’re probably wondering why I’m here.”

“To say goodbye to me?”

“Yes and to talk with you about something important.”

“I actually wanted to talk to you about something too.”

“Really?”

“Yes but you go first.”

“No John, I insist you go first.”

“Okay then. Well I just wanted to apologize to you for not telling you about the job offer and the fact that I’m leaving sooner. I just knew it was going to be hard for you. You must hate me.”

“I could never hate you. I just wish you would’ve told me before. Do you know how upset I was this morning? I still am.”

“I’m so sorry. Trust me leaving was not an easy choice to make.”

“Really? Why?”

“Well I’m leaving a lot behind. My family is here and so are my friends. I don’t know anyone in California.”

“So then why are you going?”

“Well you should see how much money I’ll make in my new position. It’s double of what I’m making now.”

“Double? Wow. That’s great. But I still wish you weren’t going.”

“I know and it’s going to be the hardest to say goodbye to you because you’re a very important person to me.”

“You’re important to me too.”

The two hug each other.

“Okay I said what I needed to say. So what did you want to tell me?”

“Well John, what I have to tell you is something important.”

“It sounds serious.”

“It is. What I’m going to tell you is something I’ve been hiding from you for months. “

“You’re scaring me.”

“Don’t be scared. I just need you to listen to me.”

“Okay I’m listening.”

Elena takes a deep breath a few times and takes Jonathan’s hands and holds, looks into his eyes and starts telling him what she needs to say.

*drags megaphone*

Chapter 8
“Jonathan, you and I have known other for only a couple of months but in this short time, our relationship has changed so much. I don’t just see you as just my coworker anymore. You are so much more than that. You are my best friend but the feelings that I have for you go much more deeper than friendship.”

“They do?”

“Yes.”

“Elena, what are you trying to tell me?”

“Jonathan, I love you. I love you more than life itself. You are the first man I’ve ever been in love with and you’re the only one I want to love. I’ve never truly been happy in my life but that all changed when you entered it. I love you so much and I can only hope that you feel the same way for me. And if you do, I hope that you will reconsider leaving and stay here with me,” Elena said with tears streaming down her face.

“Elena, what you just told me is true?”

“I meant every word.”

“Elena, I had no idea you felt this way about me.”

“Well I do. Every word I said was true. I love you Jonathan with all my heart. Now I need to know. Do you love me too?”

“I don’t know.”

“You don’t know? It’s a simple yes or no question.”

“It’s not that simple Elena. I’m not saying that I don’t love you because I do but I don’t know if I’m in love with you. I’m sorry.”

“No I’m sorry. Sorry for telling you my feelings. Sorry for pouring my heart to you. I’m sorry that I came here tonight.”

Elena gets up and heads toward the door.

“Elena, wait,” Jonathan says while going after her.

“Wait for what? I made a mistake coming here. Good luck in California,” Elena says before leaving Jonathan’s apartment.

Once the door closes behind her, Elena runs downstairs to her car. She sits in her car with tears in her eyes. She thinks to herself, “Why did I tell him? This was a mistake. All of it. Maybe it’s a good idea that he’s leaving now.”

Meanwhile, Jonathan walks back to his couch and sits. He’s thinking to himself, “I hurt her. How can I do that? I love her but things will get too complicated if I move thousands of miles away. That’s why I couldn’t tell her of my feelings. I just hope that she can forgive me one day.”
