NINE: Sara Gettelfinger gets a call from the Vatican

"Sara Gettelfinger takes over the role of “Carla” in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) Tony® Award winning production of NINE. Sara Gettelfinger understudied the role of “Carla” and portrayed the role of “Maria” since the production began its run in March 2003. She began performances playing the role of “Carla” on Tuesday, October 7th.

Due to the volume of Broadway productions scheduled to open within the next two months, the production must maintain the originally scheduled re-opening date of Tuesday, October 28th with a new leading company including JOHN STAMOS (Guido Contini), EARTHA KITT (Liliane La Fleur), MARY STUART MASTERSON (Luisa), REBECCA LUKER (Claudia) and SARA GETTELFINGER (Carla)."

Report: Jenna Elfman Replaced by Sara Gettelfinger in Nine

"Actress Sara Gettelfinger has replaced Jenna Elfman as the successor to Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski in the Broadway revival of Nine, according to The New York Post.

Gettelfinger began in the production in the role of Maria. She was recently announced to make the daring aerial entrance in the "A Call From the Vatican" number as Carla, while a new start date for Elfman was being determined. The New York daily now reports "the Roundabout has decided to give the role to Gettelfinger." The nonprofit has of yet made no official announcement about any such change in casting."

"Gettelfinger has appeared on Broadway in The Boys From Syracuse, Anything Goes and Seussical. Other credits include Fosse (national tour), Tenderloin, Carnival (Encores!) and Company (Helen Hayes Theatre)."

(...)

In 2003 I saw the magnificent & powerful Broadway revival starring film stars Antonio Banderas, Mary Stuart Masterson, Jane Krakowski, and the legend herself: Chita Rivera. I went back almost a year later and saw it again with John Stamos, Rebecca Luker, Sara Gettelfinger, and Eartha Kitt in the Rivera role. For me personally, the revival was even better than the original. In fact, I consider this the finest revival ever to grace Broadway. Director David Leveaux took the book problems of the second act and completely retooled, redefined and actually solved so many of the issues within the problematic second act. Leveaux's revival was one of the most emotional, gut-wrenching, and overwhelming musicals I had ever sat and watched.
